A New Look

Last Friday I went through on a decision two years in the making. With my brother’s help, I shaved my head (RSS subscribers: please click here to see my sidebar picture).

I waited partly because it felt unprofessional to sport in an office environment. And partly because it is not quickly reversible.

But the idea lingered in my mind. Now that I’m an entrepreneur, I pulled the trigger. It feels liberating and amazingly aerodynamic.

Plus, I can finally do a more convincing Zidane impression.

Feel free to share your comments on the new look. Here are some of the things people have already said to me:

“No! How could you?”–a conservative family member.

“You are just a copycat”–a family member referencing that my older brother shaved his head

“Why didn’t you wait till the summer when it’s warmer?”–a friend.

“I’m lovin the shaved head look!”-a friend

And my favorite comment so far:

“presh, the size of your cranium impresses me greatly. you should be lex luthor in the next superman movie!”–a friend

    F.Y.I most of my female friends, after a bit consideration, do tell me the bald look works on me, so I’m sure they’d approve of your new shiny head.

    Looks good!

    One of the reasons i still use a clipper without a guide rather than shave my head completely with a razor is that…i’m concerned with the maintenance. If i want, I can cut it every week, two weeks or even three and it will still look relatively neat.

    How often do you have to shave your head now that you’re completely bald?

    @RohoMech: Awesome. Totally awesome.

    @cchow: Thanks for the support. I plan on shaving every other day, which is how often I shave my beard. It does take about 10-15 minutes extra, but it basically trades off with the time I used to spend every day to shampoo/condition. And shaving frequently reminds me to use a skin conditioner to maintain my scalp.

    I think it’s totally sweet. I wouldn’t have thought of it if you didn’t mention it, but you did copy your brother.

    @Joon – Wow, his brother sounds like a pretty handsome guy, and smart too!
