Cynthia: Good questions! See Step 4 "Savings Analysis" for how much money you have left. The column "unplanned savings" is how much cash you have left, and then "planned savings" is how much you stash away in retirement accounts, etc. The row "year to date running totals" at the bottom of that table is a running total of how much you have.

As for your first question, there isn't a column for monthly spending. Let me add that in and send you the updated version.

(The reason it was not in there before is that I actually look at "Step 5" the column "year-to-date monthly average" as it averages out spending patterns. But I am always open to updating the spreadsheet to meet the needs of others, so I will gladly add in something you find useful)

Okay, I'm sick of not knowing where our money is going and I downloaded the simple expense tracker (mid-month by the way, thanks for the encouragement!) but I don't understand it. Where is the running total of how much we've spent that month? Where is the running total of how much we have left? Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I'm puzzled. Thanks.

1 Button to Wifi Review Gal: Thanks for the comment. I have found the daily system works really well in making me more conscious about spending. It has turned frugality into a habit rather than a willful act.
