This dillema is of paramount to the society. I think that an individual need to put postive correlation btn earning more and saving more. Find a high paying job which can lead into more savings. Sometimes you get high paying job in the environment/situation where you save little, then not meaningful

@ Daniel

Wow, you must have a pretty impressive brain to be able to find suitable tutors that people are willing to pay for, talk them into working for you, and coordinating the schedule -- all with zero hours of work.

While you may be able to make 200% of what you would tutoring for an hour, you won't be doing it with no work (i.e. time)

I hated this answer :)

Reason being: you can only save a limited amount - however, you can earn a virtually unlimited amount.

Your example of spending time tutoring is flawed. In the land of the free, you would use your brain, not your time to earn money. You'd act as a broker for other tutors and have ten guys paying you 20% commission for the work you send them.

You work zero hours and earn 200% of what you would have earned "working" one hour.

A little simplistic, but that is how you fire up an economy... not by saving.
