Oh, and my office has installed those parking garage mirrors (the convex/"fisheye" ones) at major hall traffic points. They also just changed the door from our space to the common building space (which has the bathrooms) from a solid one to one with a window, which I hope has reduced the number of people door-checked on their way back from the bathroom. The first floor door is still windowless, and only my quick pivot skills have kept my face pretty.

Stanford has not only installed roundabouts in key intersections. Bike lanes with big arrows indicating direction of travel have also been painted on some of the major bike routes.

Roundabouts not only reduce the number of potential conflict points, they also apparently slow traffic, meaning searching for "traffic roundabouts" gives results including folks willing to sell design/implementation services. I've even read an article saying that the slowing effect of roundabouts doesn't necessarily correspond solely to blocking forward motion (a built-up concrete/landscaped center) but can also apply to designs painted or paved into an intersection. I'm not sure though-- Brigham Circle in Boston (google map "Brigham Circle, Boston, MA" and zoom in on the satellite image) has a design paved into it and I have not noticed it slowing Boston drivers much.
