Brazen Careerist launches innovative career site–2 reasons to check it out

I have been a part of the Brazen Careerist community almost from its start and I have great things to say about it. It has allowed me to meet other bloggers, to discuss politics and money, and to learn about the attitudes of Generation-Y. I also thank Brazen Careerist for improving publicity for this blog (with a special thanks to Penelope Trunk, Ryan Healy, and Ryan Paugh, among others).

That is why I am excited to discuss the launch of the improved Brazen Careerist. Brazen Careerist has grown from its blog-focus into a more comprehensive career site for next-generation professionals.

(The site: Brazen Careerist)

During this last week I was able to preview the new site. I think the site is great. I want to share a coupe of reasons why I like it and why you should consider checking it out:

1. Finally, a career site that is more than sharing your resume

I think we can all agree the traditional resume is important but incomplete. Frankly, I am sick of career sites where all I can do is post my resume and/or cover letter and hope that someone reading them actually understands my true potential.

Brazen Careerist solves this problem. In addition to offering the traditional resume profile, the site includes an “Ideas” profile section where you can share ideas, such as blog posts, groups you like, and events you attend. It is a place that appears to combine many of the cool things on Facebook and LinkedIn.

I think this is invaluable for creating a true identity in the workplace. Here is a screenshot from the site:

For a while I have wanted to share some of my game theory posts with future employers, and now I have a convenient way to do so.

Brazen Careerist has helped my blog grow, but it has done even more for others. Some of the active members have shared their success stories about finding new jobs and clients. This site has great potential benefits.

2. Still a great place to connect with bloggers

The new site still includes a great network of bloggers. It is easy to find bloggers by content category and industry type.

Additionally, it is easy to follow people through the “Fan Feed.” Here is a screenshot that sums it up:

What to do next

Here are a few steps if you’re interested.

1. Check out Brazen Careerist and browse around

2. Create a profile to join the community

3. Follow the guide to creating your profile, finding a job, and sharing your blog/ideas.

And finally, feel free to connect with me on Brazen Careerist by becoming a fan or sending me a message! Hope you find the site as nice as I have…
