The Mind Your Decisions forum is up
At the request of a few readers, I’ve added a feature to the site I hope you’ll find useful: a discussion forum. Here’s a link to the forum.
Why a forum? There are a couple of main reasons:
Connect with other readers
As the blog has grown, so has the community. There are over 2,000 RSS readers to the blog and over 350 subscribers to my recently re-launched monthly email newsletter.
I love being able to write posts, respond to personal emails, and read all the comments of such an intelligent and involved community. But why should I be the only one?
The forum is a way for you to get connected with other readers. You can write or ask about topics that are on your mind. I will of course be active on the forums, but the fun part is it will allow a lot of you to get involved and have control over discussion topics too.
Spreadsheet help
My spreadsheet, the free budget and expense tracker has been downloaded over 15,000 times this year.
While the spreadsheet is flexible, it does require a healthy level of expertise in Excel or Open Office. I get several technical questions about how to modify the formulas and customize the output.
I’ve decided to put all the technical support on the forum in a special section: Spreadsheet help
Feel free to add your own suggestions/comments.
Smaller topics
I like to reserve the blog for ideas big enough to merit a full-blown post. This has unfortunately led to an omission of a lot of smaller but interesting topics, like interesting links, my posts on bundle.com, deals I find, and noteworthy game theory mentions on TV and in movies.
I’ve decided the forum would be a perfect place to talk about these topics and other conversational items.
Check it out!
The forum is up and I’ve added a few placeholder categories and threads to get things rolling. You can read everything but to post you’ll have to register.
Give it a shot and let me know what you think!
